Metro hospital, Faridabad provides best in class care to patients with heart rhythm problems. Electrophysiology Department at Metro Hospital boasts of an experienced in-house Cardiac Electrophysiologist with State-of-the-art EP System. Few hospitals in NCR region have an in-house dedicated Electrophysiologist /EP system. Having a dedicated EP team round the clock EP services are available for the patients at Metro Heart Hospital.
Metro Hospital started its dedicated EP program under expert Senior Consultant Cardiologist and Electrophysiologist Dr. Niti Chadha Negi in 2014. Since then more than 1300 pacemakers/AICD/CRTs and more than 800 Radiofrequency ablations have been done. No other hospital in Faridabad has this level of care, expertise and latest equipments in this field.
Heart rhythm problems treated by Electrophysiologist
EP Study (Electrophysiology Study)
EP study is a small angiography-like procedure where-in the electrical circuits and electrically important points of heart are tested through catheter electrodes introduced into the heart and assessed for any abnormality. Patients are admitted for a day and discharged within 24 hrs. During the procedure patients stay conscious and the study is done under local-anaesthesia. Cannulas are inserted into the groin region under local anaesthesia and then catheter-electrodes are introduced through them into the heart. It is a small procedure and patient stay conscious and comfortable during the procedure.
Radiofrequency Ablation
In patients whose EP Study shows abnormal electrical activity, the electrophysiologist might take a decision RF ablation RF ablation is done in a way similar to EP study and radiofrequency energy is delivered to the electrically abnormal points. 3-D Radiofrequency Ablation are carried out for single point ablations, atrial fibrillation, scar VT, and ventricular arrhythmias.
Permanent Pacing
Permanent pacemakers including Conduction system pacing is done by Senior Electrohysiologist. Conduction system pacing is newest pacing techniquewhere-in pacemaker wires are attached to the heart’s own internal electrical system. This helps in providing improved pacing and preserves strength of heart muscles.
AICD
AICD or automatic implantable cardioverter defibrillators are small shock-devices. These are implanted in individuals with weak heart muscles and who have electrical disturbances arising from their ventricles (Ventricular tachycardia). These are Life-saving devices. At Metro Hospital, these devices are routinely implanted in patients after thorough evalualtion by electrophysiologist.
CRT
CRT or cardiac resynchronization therapy are small pacemaker-like devices which are implanted to improve the strength of heart muscles. These are implanted in patients whose heart muscles are weak and also have electrical block in their left electrical system.
